Victory Forge Issues Statement Against Allegations
May 2nd, 2008
Port St. Lucie (FL) (May 2, 2008) – Victory Forge Military Academy will remain open despite the recent allegations from the Department Of Children and Family Services. Victory Forge has been and continues to cooperate fully with the investigation hoping that these serious allegations will come to an end as soon as possible, so that they may continue their work rebuilding the lives of ‘at risk’ boys and their families.
Adamantly denying the accusations from a former cadet and any allegations of abuse from the DCF, Victory Forge remains steadfast to carrying out its mission. While it appears that DCF has illegally strong armed many of the parents to remove their children from the program, DCF does not have the legal authority to close the academy. With the support of many of the parents, its board of directors, volunteers and many community supporters Victory Forge will continue its program, projects and many community service initiatives such as the Memorial Day Tribute and Cadets for Vets.
Dr Alan Weierman president of the academy states that, “DCF has themselves committed child abuse in their own handling of this case. The academy, the staff and I are not guilty of what is being alleged and when this investigation is complete this will come to light. As a victim of child abuse, I am and will forever be committed to the welfare and betterment of children. I have spent my entire life and career helping those children and families subject to abuse and will do everything in my power to save the life of a child. In the meantime we are cooperating with the investigators to resolve this issue, we are also discussing with our attorneys the possibility of filing formal complaints and possibly charges against DCF. In close we would like to thank our friends, families, the parents of displaced cadets and the community in general for their overwhelming support.”
